Standards were responsible for 28 % of the rise in GDP in Nordic countries and the UK, according to research published by ISO members.
Another study, conducted in France, showed that over 66 % of companies surveyed (including SMEs) stated that standards increase their profits, and that 69 % consider standardization to have a positive impact on their business.
These are just some of the many publications in the new ISO Research Library that demonstrate the value of International Standards. The Library features studies by ISO members, academic papers, publications from international organizations and a range of other sources. It is expected to be a valuable resource for anyone interested in standardization.
New publications will continue to be added to the Library over time and ISO members and interested parties are encouraged to contribute.
ISO Secretary-General Sergio Mujica said: “Building the evidence base for standards and standardization is vital for demonstrating the value of our work. We hope that, as this body of research continues to grow, so will people’s understanding of the benefits of International Standards and the important role they play in global governance.”
