Bribery is one of the world economy’s most costly and destructive issues, ruining communities and eroding public trust. ISO has an International Standard to combat corruption by helping organizations instil an anti-bribery culture. A new handbook has just been published that lets users of the standard maximize the benefits that it offers.

ISO 37001, Anti-bribery management systems – Requirements with guidance for use, helps organizations put in place appropriate measures to prevent and address bribery, thereby cultivating a culture of honesty, transparency and integrity. Effective and diligent use of the standard can also minimize an organization’s liability should any wrongdoing be suspected, by demonstrating that it does not condone bribery and has implemented measures to reduce the likelihood of it occurring.

A new handbook entitled ISO 37001:2016 – Anti-bribery management systems – A practical guide has just been published to assist users of the standard by giving more in-depth guidance and advice about bribery and the measures they can take to eradicate it.

The handbook features examples and advice on how the requirements can be met, supported by a number of case studies, comparisons with other internationally recognized anti-bribery tools and a list of supplementary documents that may be helpful.

It provides valuable information on how to get started with the standard, what needs to be done to implement the measures and how these can be tailored to meet the organization’s specific context and needs.

ISO 37001:2016 – Anti-bribery management systems – A practical guide was developed in collaboration with UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization). It is available from your national ISO member or through the ISO Store.
